Initial Capital for Establishing the Factory from a Guide to Good Living

The inspiration to establish a cap factory and start industrial production came to Reino from his brother Toivo, who had been making fur caps as a hobby. Reino had written a guide to hunting and good living, and the proceeds from these publications provided him with the initial capital to start the factory.

The Story of the Cap Factory Began in 1952

The story of the cap factory began when Reino K. Salo (1926–2000) founded the factory in Kaustinen in 1952, operating in its early years in Kyrölä. The main product of Salo's Cap Factory for a long time was fur caps. After the war, there was a shortage of everything, and the manufactured products sold well. While the factory was operating in Kaustinen, parts of the caps were sewn in many homes in the surrounding area for the factory. However, in 1960, Reino Salo moved with his family to Vammala, and the factory operations relocated there.
